Happy New Year! It’s been a while since I had my face in a post, so I thought it was time to re-introduce myself here. ??

I’m Anna, I founded Azur Pure Skincare in 2018 when I wanted a natural refillable face wash and moisturiser packaged in glass, and found none existed!

So I decided to set up my own sustainable skincare business, to help prevent plastic waste. I spent months researching refill options, packaging, ingredients, suppliers, meeting with skincare formulators and considering how best to make the business closed loop.

The aim: eliminate plastic waste from bathrooms and oceans. I was living at Bondi Beach at the time, and seeing the ocean daily reminded me of my mission. I started with just two products on Bondi Beach markets, and Azur grew from there.

There are now over 20 products, and we’ve won multiple awards, with customers preventing plastic waste Australia-wide and beyond!

I decided on the simple lid-swap-return refill system we used as I wanted to make it easy for everyone to use the same style of common face products many of us know and love (eg liquid), but without any single use plastic. I considered refill pouches, but there aren’t any plastic-free ones available that hold liquids. I considered powders, but for me personally I prefer gel face wash and liquid moisturiser, and I know a lot of you do, too. Some products work great as powders, but there’s something refreshing and satisfying about the experience of using a foaming gel face wash and a hydrating, cooling smooth liquid moisturiser. Water-free formulas are great, but often skin needs that locked-in-hydration that an emulsion (water + oil-based mix) moisturiser gives. That’s why some Azur products are liquid, and some powder (like clay masks and exfoliator). I wanted to give choice and make adoption of eco face care easy.
